Fast Friday his here and just as the name describes, the speeds were quick. INDYCAR allowed both Honda and Chevrolet to boost their engines by 10kPa from 130 to 140, the equivalent of about 30 horsepower and 5mph.
When the track went green at noon Andretti Autosport's Townsend Bell went out early, posting a no-tow lap of 229.819mph.
Marco Andretti became the first to break the 230mph mark about 30 minutes into the session, quickly followed by his Andretti Autosport teammates Alexander Rossi and Carlos Munoz.
The 230mph no-tow mark was jumped right over when Townsend Bell posted a blistering speed of 231.038mph roughly 45 minutes into the session.
Following a relatively short yellow for moisture, many of the cars that hadn't already packed up returned to the track for Happy Hour.
