KV Racing Technology co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven:
“I want to thank all those who have written to express their appreciation of the efforts of KV Racing Technology during the last 14 years,” said Kalkhoven. “However as I approach 73, I feel I can no longer give the team the effort and support it and the team members deserve.

“It is my firm belief that the series is on a major upswing under the leadership of Mark Miles and Jay Frye and has a bright future. I remain committed to help in any way I can, particularly in encouraging new owners and sponsors. In particular Ricardo Juncos, to whom we will be offering our support.

“I am very proud to have been a part of this team and I will always cherish all the great people and drivers we worked side-by-side with to achieve our successes
.
“It has been a journey of many ups and downs, but I will always remember winning the 2013 Indy 500.

Stewart To Sponsor Car In '500'

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced Tuesday morning a joint venture with Tony Stewart for the team's No. 77 entry in May's Indianapolis 500.

The entry will come in the form of Team One Cure, an initiative setup by The Tony Stewart Foundation. The project is meant to create awareness of the Colorado Sate University Flint Animal Cancer Center (FACC) and their work on cancer treatments for both people and pets.

“We learned that with the One Cure program, cancer treatment breakthroughs are happening through collaboration between scientists and doctors working with both people and pets,” Stewart said. “It perfectly fits with my foundation’s missions to help children and animals. Sam Schmidt represents the very best in an injured racer overcoming adversity, plus we share the passion to win at IMS.”

According to the SPM release, the driver will be announced soon.

Aleshin Returns To SPM

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced early Wednesday morning the signing of Mikhail Aleshin to return to the No. 7 entry this season.

Aleshin was thought to be a lock for the seat until recent reports of a possible funding issue with the program. That same issue kept the Russian off the IndyCar grid for all but 1 race in 2015.

The 29-year-old finished last season with 3 tops 5's, 1 pole and 15th in points.
