Andretti Signs hhgregg For 2017

Andretti Autosport announced today the signing of hhgregg to the team's sponsorship lineup in 2017.

The retailer will serve as 'lead co-sponsor' on Marco Andretti's No. 27 Honda, with additional branding team wide throughout the season.

It's unclear how many races hhgregg will serve as Marco Andretti's primary sponsor, but the team did confirm the car would run in both the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and Indianapolis 500.

Andretti Autosport added hhgregg prior to this season in a secondary and occasional primary sponsor role across several of their entries in 2016.

Power Wins Delayed Pocono 500

Penske Racing's Will Power won today's ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, slicing a big chunk out of Simon Pagenaud's points lead.

Entering the weekend Pagenaud held a sizable 58-point lead over Power. The first step in slicing into the point lead came on lap 158 when Pagenaud got high in Turn 1 slapping the wall hard, ending his day.

Power, who had just taken the race lead when Pagenaud's accident occurred, held the lead for the remaining 41-laps.

A scary incident happend in the pits on Lap 63 when Alexander Rossi and Charlie Kimball made contact. Rossi had just exited his pit when he made contact with Kimball who was crossing over entering his pit. The wheel-on-wheel contact sent Rossi into the air, landing on top of a pit-exiting Helio Castroneves. Rossi's front left tire entered Castroneves' cockpit, resulting in a minor hand injury. Rossi's No. 98 continued over the front cowling of Castroneves before landing hard on all 4 wheels. Rossi and his crew were later penalized 20 seconds for avoidable contact.

“Inside the car, I was actually more protected than what it looked like," said Castroneves. "Sometimes people don’t realize the Verizon IndyCar series are so much about safety and today is the proof of that. Very glad that nobody got hurt."
