Servia To Replace Power In St. Pete

Penske Racing announced Sunday morning IndyCar veteran Oriol Servia will race in place of Will Power in today's Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Power qualified on pole for today's race and even broke his own track record, despite an illness throughout qualifying. The 'nausea' continued Sunday morning, triggering Penske's decision to make a change.

“Obviously this is a very difficult decision to make in the first race of the season, but Will’s health and safety is the most important thing to consider,” said Penske Racing President Tim Cindric. “We hope Will makes a speedy recovery and with Oriol’s professionalism and experience, we know he’ll do a solid job for our team.”

Power was involved in a single car practice incident Friday and was thought to be uninjured. With the Penske driver's symptoms persisting he'll be reevaluated before returning to the cockpit.
