Ratings Are In

The ratings are in, and although not great, the opening race did show an improvement over 2009. The inaugural Sao Paulo 300 was the 3rd highest rated IZOD IndyCar Series race in VERSUS history, scoring a .4 national household rating, peaking from 2:15-2:30 with a .6. With an average of 411,000 viewers throughout the broadcast, ratings were up 30% over last seasons average of 315,000, and up 76% over the 2009 opener in St. Pete of 233,000.

With last nights announcement that VERSUS would return to DirectTV immediately, look for the Barber ratings to sore even higher when the Honda-Powered Dallara's turn their first competitive laps around the Birmingham, Alabama road course next month.

Combine this with the fact that Versus is back on DirecTV and it is a good sign. Seems like the ball is definitely rolling in the right direction for the series.

LOVED the Brazil race!!!

St. Pete will start on ABC, just before the end on the Nascar race at Martinsville. We'll have a better idea of where things stand after that.

Thanks for publishing the Sao Paulo figures: it would be great if you can keep such timely info going throughout the season.

Yes, Matt & Anon you are correct, ABC will broadcast St. Pete. Thanks for the heads up! Fixing now....
