Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced early Wednesday morning the signing of Mikhail Aleshin to return to the No. 7 entry this season.
Aleshin was thought to be a lock for the seat until recent reports of a possible funding issue with the program. That same issue kept the Russian off the IndyCar grid for all but 1 race in 2015.
The 29-year-old finished last season with 3 tops 5's, 1 pole and 15th in points.
