CGR To Test 4-Cars In Cali, 2 In Indy

INDYCAR announced Wednesday an IZOD IndyCar Series test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway scheduled for April 4th, inviting a car from all teams, sans rookie drivers.

Chip Ganassi Racing had a pre-planned test at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California April 4th for all four of their pilots, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Charlie Kimball, and Graham Rahal. A Chip Ganassi Racing rep says that the April 4th test in California is still planned with all 4 cars. The team also plans to run 2-cars in the test at Indianapolis. Who will run each of the cars is unclear.

Josef Newgarden of Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing and Simon Pagenaud of Schmidt-Hamilton Motorsports, both rookies, will test April 4-5 at Texas Motor Speedway.

UPATE 1:55 pm est: The Indianapolis Star's Curt Cavin reports both Scott Dixon and Graham Rahal will run at Indianapolis.

UPDATE 3/31 8:02 pm est: Cavin reports that Ganassi has been told just one car can test. Dixon will be at Indy.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing - Scott Dixon
Team Penske - Helio Castroneves

Admission is free, with the south end viewing mounds open. Cars will not be on track from noon to 1pm.
