Just five days before the 2nd round of the IZOD IndyCar Series is slated to take the green flag at Barber Motorsports Park, Newman Haas announced the signing of 2010 Firestone Indy Lights runner-up James Hinchcliffe.
An asset managing company based out of Toronto, Hinch's hometown, the 24-year-old will run with Sprott Inc. primary sponsorship for the remainder of the season, sans the two overseas events in Brazil and Japan.
“I used to think that driving for Newman/Haas Racing at some point in my career would be amazing, but to get to do it in my rookie season is beyond words,” said Hinchcliffe. “I am only the third true rookie to drive for the team and I think that says a lot about the relationship we have forged over the last few months"
Testing with Newman Haas during the off-season, Hinchcliffe will team alongside Oriol Servia in his first IZOD Indycar Series race this weekend.
