Ratings Are In

The ratings for the first ABC race of the season are in, and they're not great. This past weekend's Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 in Kansas drew a .8 overnight rating, down from a .9 non-Indy ABC average in 2009 (Milwaukee .6, Iowa .8, Watkins Glen .9, & Toronto 1.0). The St. Pete GP, which was originally scheduled to air on the American Broadcasting Company's network in March was rained out, drawing a .6 before moving the Monday morning race to ESPN 2.

The next opportunity for ABC to better a rating from last season comes on Sunday, May 30th, when the green flag is scheduled to drop for the 94th Indianapolis 500. The 2009 '500' earned a 4.0, bumping the ABC season average to 1.5. ABC will also air the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen on July 4th, and the Honda Indy Toronto on July 18th.

I'm thinking the Texas race on June 5 will be the best barometer for the season. Saturday night, Nascar races at Pocono the next day, short week after Indy, good local promotion.

If Versus is going to get any numbers this year, that's the time.

Andy

toronto was not 1.0 it was 0.67 AND IT WAS THE WORST RACE RATING ON ABC and it WAS rough estimaTED AND THE GLEN TOO GLEN WAS 0.87 AND NO IRL RACE MADE 1.0 OR 0.9 LAST YEAR ON ABC A PART FROM INDY HAHAHA ON KANSAS RATING THAT THE OVER NIGHT RATING THAT NOT THE FINAL RATING LAST YEAR THEY HAD MILWAUKEE 0.65 RATING BUT OVER NIGHT PUSH IT TO 0.75 RATING WAIT A WEEK AND YOU GET THE BEST RATING ANOTHER JUMP THE SHARK

Anon,

Yes, the Kansas .8 ratng was overnight, but that was the only available number at the time.

I may be wrong, but am 95.6378% sure Toronto was a 1.0. Where did you get the .67 number?
