Alex Lloyd Confirmed For Homestead

UPDATE: It looks like Servia will be in the car for Motegi

____________________________

Nearly a week after it was rumored that the '07 Indy Lights champ would soon be in a car, it's finally official. Alex Lloyd will run the #06 Dallara for Newman/Haas/Lanigan in the season finale at Homestead-Miami.

It's still unclear as to who, if anyone, will pilot the #06 in Motegi, but if not Lloyd I would assume the ride will go to Oriol Servia.

Although not confirmed, look for him to be with Newman/Haas/Lanigan next year as well.

2010 silly season pieces of the puzzle??? Believe at own risk...

Lloyd to NHL. To team up with fellow Brit Dan Wheldon, who is gone from Panther as soon as the checkards fall at Homestead.

Hunter-Reay to Panther. League needs him in a good full-season car. National Guard gets an American driver. Possible 2nd car with Scott Sharp and Highcroft being a part-owner.

Hildebrand to Vision. Andretti farms him out for 2010. Vision wants to run 2 cars. They need a good road racer to team with Ed. The sport needs more Americans and moving the dominating 2009 Lights champ up, only makes sense. Andretti could then run him for them in 2011.

Rahal to DeFerren. Gil needs a Indy Car vet, who knows these tracks and cars, to team up with Sato. The sport needs Rahal in a top car (which this team will certainly be) and Honda wants Sato to succeed early on.

It all makes since..

But will NHL run 3 cars or is Rahal going to de Ferran?

I've also heard the possibility of Hildebrand to Panther

Another possible silly season tidbit...

With Danica Patrick back down south this week saying howdy to Stewart-Haas, how does this scenario sound (which also links with AGR's recent wanting for the Indy 500 starting time to be changed)...

Danica agrees to re-sign with Andretti to run the full IRL schedule in 2010. But, she also does a deal with Stewart-Haas to run some Nationwide races in 2010 and a few late season Cup races. That becomes full-time Cup in 2011.

Stewart partners with Andretti Racing to run a car for himself in the 2010 and 2011 Indy 500's, and brings DP (and big time funding) back to Indy with him in 2011 in a Andretti car. Andretti gets the cash from DP his team desperately needs for 2010.

DP gets exactly what she wants. She runs one more full season in Indy Car. She gets a nice money deal from Andretti and her Indy Car sponsors. She gets paid big bucks to move to a partial-season NASCAR schedule in 2010 (with another sponsor) and gets to run full-time in Cup in 2011. And, she still gets to run the one race each year she and her sponsors cares about winning/doing well in (the Indy 500) with a great team.

A shot in the dark? Maybe. But, its at least plausable.

I like it. I retract my previous doubts about AGR fielding an Indy 500 ride for a NASCAR driver.

I would very much like to see Tony Stewart back at the 500.

Anyone like Dixon to drive for DeFerran? Talk about a veteran to team up with Sato, and Dixon has driven DeFerran in ALMS...
