By my count that's 8 hours of IRL coverage in a matter of a few days, and it's something that would have taken ESPN a month to accomplish in recent years. The remaining VERSUS schedule for 09' looks very similar with the only exception being that the Qualifying/previous week recap show will be 1 hour compared to St. Pete's 2 hours.
But, before the season begins don't forget that next Saturday at 2pm VERSUS will be airing another 1 hour special hosted by Indycar announcer Bob Jenkins. The show will revisit the closest finishes in IRL history complete with driver interviews and airing of the closing laps of each event.
2 more specials are scheduled for the same time on each Saturday leading up to the start of the season with the March 21st show titled "Crashes and Conflicts". The fallowing week, 3-28, will recap the 2008 season "film style"(what ever that means), and will include a round table discussion with Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Dan Wheldon, and Dario Franchitti, moderated by D&R owner/IRL announcer Robbie Buhl. The discussion will touch on last season, The Indianapolis 500, and the 2009 season.
