Andretti Autosport announced their contract with Indianapolis 500 and Verizon IndyCar Series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay through the 2020 season. The extension was made possible with the re-up of DHL as a primary sponsor.
"Our relationship with DHL grew out of a partnership that dates back to 2005,” said Andretti Autosport CEO Michael Andretti. "To see this partnership develop and continue over a 15-year period, through 2020, is the result of hard work by both companies in support of DHL marketing, sales and B2B objectives. It also reflects the strength of the Verizon IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500 properties."
Hunter-Reay will join Marco Andretti as the two confirmed Andretti Autosport drivers in 2017. It appears likely defending Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi will return to the team for a second consecutive year.
The team's fourth entry entry is one of the major question marks going into IndyCar's Silly Season. Carlos Munoz could return, a new driver with funding could land the seat, or it may remain parked. Time will tell.
