Panther To Add Second Car?

A year after dropping Vitor Meira for Dan Wheldon, it looks like Panther Racing could be adding a second car for 2010.

According to former Target Chip Ganassi driver Giorgio Pantano, he has a 60% chance of landing the 2nd Panther Racing IZOD IndyCar Series seat. In a Q&A with Stop and Go, 30-year old Pantano says that a decision should be made in early January.

Panther Racing:

A place for a young driver to get their foot in the door. And a place for an old driver to waste his talent. I feel so sorry for Dan Wheldon. This is karma for turning his back on Michael Andretti in 2005.

I haven't heard Pantano's name in forever. This would be good news for sure. I'd love to see 2 Panther cars.

Great! Another foreigner...What is wrong selecting the Boat kid or any other young American. Panther used say "American". Now it is where is the money?

the Boat kid along with all the others in the USAC ranks these days will not get their chance, and until Americans put emphasis on learning how to turn right like those in Europe do thats how it will be.

Periodically, every six months, there is a new interview with Giorgio Pantano, which he claims to be close to sign an agreement to run in Indycar with Panther...in this summer he talk in the italian television about the same, and few months ago he spoke the same in a newspaper..I'm italian, I hope that is true, but I remain skeptical...but I think that is only a speculation of him and his entourage...for example, it'd be strange to see a second Panther car, when they didn't run a second car even inthe golden years...I never read about their intentions to field a second car next year...Pantano doesn't have any sponsors with him, this is his problem...he's not able to find sponsorship which guaranteed him a place in a good series in recent years...in Indycar there's already a good group of valid and highly regarded drivers without a ride (I think about Servia, Hildebrand, Junqueira, Scheckter, Tracy, Bell, even Bourdais)...why should Panther sign a stranger driver without sponsorship?
