Chip Ganassi Racing announced Monday morning the signing of Max Chilton to the team's fourth full-time Verizon IndyCar Series entry.
Chilton, who raced 35 events over 2 seasons with Marussia in Formula 1, contested a part-time Indy Lights schedule with Carlin Racing last season. The 24-year-old amassed one win, six podium and 10 top-five finishes.
“Max is a talented young driver who has driven a number of different disciplines already in a short time," said team owner Chip Ganassi. "He brings a good deal of experience to our Indy car lineup and we’re looking forward to him being part of our four-car team in 2016 and making a big contribution.”
Chilton will run the No. 8 entry alongside returning CGR teammates Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball. Last season the seat was driven full-time by a combined effort of Sage Karam and Sebastian Saavedra.
